Exquisite Cape Upholstery started the way most workshops do — with someone who was tired of seeing furniture built to last a season instead of a decade. We’re based in Cape Town, and every piece that leaves our workshop has gone through the same hands: cut, framed, foamed, stitched and finished on site.

Most of what we build never sees a shop floor. It goes straight into restaurants that need booths for a hundred covers a night, hotels that need headboards that survive years of housekeeping, and offices that need reception seating that still looks sharp after the tenth client meeting. That kind of use tells you very quickly whether something was built properly or just built to look good in a photo.

We work from your measurements, not a catalogue. If your booth has to fit an awkward corner, if your chairs need to match a set you already own, or if your headboard needs to hide a plug point, that’s a normal Tuesday for us. We’ll talk you through frame timber, foam density, and fabric or leather options honestly — including telling you when a cheaper option genuinely won’t hold up to how you plan to use it.

Cape Town’s hospitality and home renovation scene has taught us a lot about what actually survives daily use versus what just photographs well. We build for the first one. That means solid timber frames, commercial-grade foam where the piece needs it, and stitching done properly rather than quickly.
